Hello everyone! Life is slowly getting back into a sturdy routine. Summer is officially over, and the kids are waist-deep in baseball, karate and gymnastics. My husband and I are working on a pick-up schedule for the kids during the week and getting them to their activities, so each of us still have time to get to the gym a couple nights a week and still get a decent nights sleep (even though we’re Netflix junkies and stay up past midnight almost every night anyways). I think I can relate my new found serenity back to my weekend at home with Courtney.
For those of you who haven’t been following our story or know anything about the premise of our blog, Court and I have been best friends for over 10 years and now we live on opposite sides of the country. Last year we only got to see each other once, so this year Courtney’s been the real MVP and bought plane tickets out the wazoo. We both planned a trip to our hometown for Labor Day/Court’s 27th birthday, and we got to spend a full 3 days sitting on my parents couch and eating out every 2 hours.
Sidenote – I’m having a mental breakdown right now because I literally JUST remembered that we forgot to tell our waitress at PF Changs that it was Courtney’s birthday. She got no birthday song or obligitory free dessert and now I feel like an asshole.
Everyone knows how refreshing and rejuvenating it is after you spend a weekend with your best friend. It was just what the doctor ordered. My only regret is not taking enough photos taken of the two of us. We both have super supportive significants who love to be the man behind the camera, but for some reason we didn’t take advantage of the fun photoshoot opportunity.
Now I’m back home, settling back into routine, and I’m feeling ready to conquer the world. I know there’s a lot of tragedy going on right now and that’s hard to ignore, but I’m just trying to put my best foot forward. Sometimes it’s hard to think about shoes, what I’m wearing, and the branches of social media without feeling guilty during times like this. However, I firmly believe that everyone has to hang onto their sense of normalcy, so I’m going to continue to donate and pray for those affected, all while I obsess over this jacket and imagine the ways I can wear it into the Fall.
