Holiday Travel

The key to holiday travel is comfort. I have always found the importance in a well planned travel outfit. I opt for easy layers and pieces that can be worn again throughout the trip. I am headed up to New Hampshire on Wednesday to celebrate Thanksgiving with a co-worker  and her family. Sad I won't be with my family this year, but thank goodness for Skype. I am preparing for a chilly week there and adding a lot of cozy layers to my packing list. This is the perfect trip to pull out all my tall socks, chunky sweaters and track pants.

Sweater + Skirt Combo

Well I'm heading back down south, so I'm getting ready for mixing light and heavy layers. I always love a skirt/sweater combo, but in a Colorado winter it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I'm currently in Augusta, Georgia (our new city of residence) looking for a place to live, so wish me luck! However, the weather is going to be a high of 75 today so I'm going to leave my sweaters at home. I'm considering this my "Welcome back to the South" present.

This or That: Camo

We love a little camo print every now and then. The darker colors are great to layer with in the colder months. I have been trying to get more use out of this mini dress. I also want to state that the dress is fleece lined so I am not a total crazy person for wearing it outside. And that beanie? The most perfect beanie. Ever. I got it last year in a light pink and was super excited to find it again in stores this season in the dusty blue color. I kept the camo edgy with over the knee boots and lots of black leather. Stephanie opted for a hard meets soft look, and threw a leather jacket over a silk and lace cami. Sometimes really girly pieces are a nice touch to break up the dark prints and leather accents. You can shop some of our favorite camo pieces this season below!

Easy Layers

I have never been one for layering oxfords under sweaters. I never could figure out how to make the layers work without everything looking too fluffy. Before I moved to New York many moons ago (just kidding, it has only been two years!) I raided my Dad's closet for sweaters. He never wears them, and they were all printed and oversized. It was everything I looked for in a sweater. Anyways, I came across this Dior oxford (that I never saw him wear) and made it mine. I love the stiff white collar of the shirt. For being a large men's shirt, it actually layers nicely under sweaters.

Remember the black and tan reversible tote from Under One Sky that Stephanie carried last week (reminder here). This is the same affordable tote in brown/coral! You can find it on Target's website here - you can always use a simple (faux) leather tote. They're easy to throw on with any outfit and throw all your stuff into. PLUS, it's under $40...can you say perfect Christmas gift? You can find it on Target's website here!

Gift Guide: Stephanie's Wish List

Even though the Holidays for me this year are going to be a little different (aka homeless or surrounded by boxes with a Charlie Brown Christmas tree), I'm not going to let it damper my spirits. And the best way I know to keep my chin up is to shop aimlessly online and create my Christmas list. I spent a long time narrowing down the specific things I need/want for my wardrobe this winter, and these 15 items are definitely must haves. So Mom, Dad, Hubby..take note. And everyone else, get a little inspiration for your own.

The Perfect Snow Boot

Snow boots have always been a toughie for me. They're clunky and excessive, and you definitely don't want to give the "boots with the fur" vibe, if you get where I'm going. But when I moved to Colorado last year, I knew I couldn't get through the winter without them. So I started my research - I thought Sorels were the only way to go. And let me tell you, these fellas have not let me down. I love finding different ways to wear them to make them feel more like a boot, and less like just a snow shoe.  So even though I'm devastated to be leaving Colorado, this cold weather purchase wasn't for nothing.

Lace Details

I recently stumbled across this sweater dress when Stephanie and I were curating our last wish list (seen here). I immediately fell in love wit the lace detailing on the bottom of the dress. The best part? this dress is under $20 at Forever21. It will be my go to piece for holiday parties and get-togethers.  I love everything about a sweater dress. They are almost like a romper. You put it on, add an accessory, and your outfit is complete.
